The Kaapse Doktor and the cold-cold sea

The South Easter wind has been strong this weekend. The wind is also called the 'Kaapse Doktor' - which in Afrikaans means the 'Cape Doctor'. This is possibly linked to the belief that the South Easter clears Cape Town from pollution and other pests :-).

It also feels as if this brings the colder sea water, as today was a nippy 10.8. I did some reading to try and figure out why, and instead of sharing my own interpretation - here is a link to the save-our-seas page that explains the water movement. https://saveourseas.com/sosf-shark-education-centre/what-is-upwelling/

Sadly another day of me forgetting to take a pic, but I will take one later this week. But in the meantime, here is a pic taken in 2021 :-)
