The journey or the destination?

Today was one of those days... I decided to play around in the shallow waves. And I reflected...we always 'rush' through the waves to get to the other side of the 'dump zone' so that we can chill. That is the destination and we do our best to get there as soon as we can.

But sometimes staying in the dump zone or just before the dump zone and spending the 20 minutes concentrating on waves and watching the waves are also nice. We miss out on the beauty of the white waves as they are breaking, especially now whilst it is still dark-ish in the morning when we swim.

The waves was not massive and I think it would've been easy to make it to the other side. But I was mesmerized by the waves and spent most of the time feeling like I'm in a semi-meditative state.

The point I am pondering is not a new one...neither is it novel - how often are we rushing and rushing to get to the other side (the other side of the waves, the other side of the traffic, the other side of the beach) and how often do we just take a moment...in the traffic to see the big trees, the sky, the sun (or stuff I tried to do this morning on my commute). This is the plan for the weekend...to take time to savour the moments instead of rushing to the other side :-)

Pics taken yesterday....

And one of the opposite side/i.e. back to the beach. The sky looks like a painting!
