Solstice (our tilting planet)

21 December is the solstice, but according to my app...in SAST it will only be tomorrow morning at 5:30am.

In simple terms (and I'm probably wrong) the word solstice is a combination of two Latin words: Sol for Sun and Sistere which means 'to stand still', so essentially for a brief moment in the Universe the Sun stands still and this causes a change in season. I wanted to sound super clever and explain it more, but realized that I really lack the knowledge -so maybe just click on this link for a real expert to explain the solstice - with pictures :-)!

I splashed around in the shallow waves this morning, the waves didn't seem that big, but I didn't quite feel it today... here is pic provided by Helen of us going in.
