Should we eat the kelp?

This morning I could not help but wonder if (a) kelp is the right word and (b) should I take some home to eat? I mean people pay a lot of money to buy kelp or seaweed products...maybe there is business opportunity here.

There was a few big waves, and a lot of kelp. The water was about 15 degrees.

I'm marveling at the difference 30 minutes makes this time of the year.
